PROJECT OVERVIEW
Baja Carports designed and constructed solar-ready steel carport structures for a Nissan dealership car wash facility. The installation provides covered vacuum stall areas while allowing the customer to later integrate photovoltaic panels using a third-party racking system installed over the roof deck. Baja’s scope included structural design and fabrication of the canopy system only, engineered to accommodate future solar integration but without responsibility for PV design, panel selection or electrical system output.
THE CHALLENGE
The dealership required a covered structure for its car wash vacuum stalls that would provide shade and weather protection for both customers and vehicles, while remaining structurally adaptable for a potential future solar installation. The design needed to maintain an open, functional layout to accommodate high vehicle turnover, all while allowing enough flexibility for third-party solar integration down the line without requiring a redesign.
THE Solution
Baja Carports engineered and constructed a steel carport system designed with future solar adaptability in mind, delivering the structure as a solar-ready platform that allows the customer to independently install photovoltaic panels and racking systems at a later date. The design emphasized structural load capacity to support potential PV systems, durable steel framing suitable for outdoor commercial use, a flexible roof deck configuration for third-party integration and an efficient layout tailored to car wash vacuum operations.
