PROJECT OVERVIEW

THE CHALLENGE
Like many public facilities, the Cameron Park Community Center sought opportunities to: Improve energy efficiency and sustainability, reduce long-term utility expenditures, enhance public amenities without expanding the site’s footprint, demonstrate responsible stewardship of community resources, and utilize available space more effectively. Traditional ground-mounted solar systems would have required dedicated land, potentially limiting future site use. The community center needed a solution that could generate renewable energy while preserving parking capacity.
THE Solution
A solar carport system was installed over existing parking areas, creating a multifunctional structure that supports solar energy generation while maintaining full parking operations. The elevated canopy design allows solar panels to capture sunlight efficiently while providing shade and protection for parked vehicles below. By building upward rather than outward, the project maximized the utility of the existing site.
