PROJECT OVERVIEW
Baja Carports designed and constructed solar-covered parking structures for Kinect Apartments, providing shaded parking for residents while supporting on-site renewable energy generation. The system integrates photovoltaic panels mounted on Baja carport structures across ADA and standard parking stalls, helping offset overall utility consumption for the residential community. The installation enhances resident experience by combining functional covered parking with sustainable energy infrastructure.
THE CHALLENGE
The residential community required a solution that would: Provide shaded parking for both ADA-accessible and general-use stalls, reduce long-term utility costs through on-site solar generation, maintain efficient parking layout and resident accessibility, integrate renewable energy without disrupting daily residential operations, allow for future expansion including rooftop solar systems (separate scope)
THE Solution
Baja Carports engineered and installed solar-ready steel canopy structures designed to support a 930 kWp photovoltaic system across designated parking areas. The structures provide durable covered parking while enabling significant on-site renewable energy generation. The system output estimate is based on a performance assumption of approximately 1,100 kWh per kWp annually, applied only to the Baja-installed canopy systems.
