PROJECT OVERVIEW
Baja Carports delivered a solar parking canopy system for Moana Park in Reno, Nevada, transforming sports complex parking areas into a renewable energy-generating asset. The installation provides shaded parking for visitors while producing clean electricity to support local energy needs and offset facility demand. The project demonstrates how public recreational infrastructure can be enhanced through integrated solar canopy systems without reducing parking capacity or usability.
THE CHALLENGE
The facility required a solution that would provide shaded parking for sports complex visitors while reducing electrical demand from the utility grid. It also needed to maintain full parking availability for high-traffic recreational events and withstand Reno’s seasonal weather conditions, including snow and wind exposure, all while integrating renewable energy without disrupting public use of the park.
THE Solution
Baja Carports engineered and installed a solar canopy system designed specifically for high-use public parking environments, supporting photovoltaic panels while providing durable covered parking across the sports complex. The system was designed for high structural resilience suited to public facility use, efficient solar energy production even in variable weather conditions, minimal maintenance requirements, and seamless integration into the existing parking layout.
